Kick out your friends and relatives for a better blogger circle

newbie blogger

The first move of any newbie blogger is to share article link with friends and relatives. Facebook provides an easy way to connect. Bigger you friend list, more views your article will get. But there is a catch that you need to beware of.

Facebook is the largest social media network

There is no denying the reach of Facebook. You can be in touch, privately or publicly. It can be small and tight group of buddies or can be 1k friend list spread across continents. Almost anyone who starts with Facebook begin on social media front and joins with a friend circle who are socially connected. As with your friends and family members, they expect a regular dosage of selfies and check-ins. It is a part fantasy world and part sharing of exciting news and updates. Other times it is a comic meme or hilarious clip.

Now imagine their surprise when you declare that you are now a writer or creator and suddenly share your newest article link. First reactions will always be excitement and encouragement. There is no other choice. But slowly the novelty wears off. Those likes and comments which were first a torrent will become a stream and then reduce to trickle. Along with that your traffic and views will also take a dive south.

The next mistake as newbie blogger you will send links of articles either by FB messenger or Whats App. Then waiting for traffic to go up, the opposite will happen and this will frustrate you further. It is sheer frustration that finally you will give up on easy support and start building your own reader network. But by the time, as a novice blogger, you have already lost a year or more of precious time.

A simple solution

I have come across many bloggers and writers who keep their social life separate from their profession. At times even their spouses do not know what the hell is going on. There are a few simple and sure shot ways of building up the right network.

Use WordPress App

Enable Likes button in Jetpack and install the WordPress app on your smart phone. After basic configuration, start following people with similar interests and hobbies. Also check the people who are liking other posts and follow them too. Drop a comment on article which you like and if you love someones work, do send a personal message to break the ice. About a month or two invested in WordPress app with easily fetch you anything between 100 to 500 likes and views. WordPress is best designed app for bloggers with exclusive focus on increasing views of your blog. Tumbler has been acquired by WordPress, so expect similar features on that app too.

Twitter

You will be surprised how easily you can find like minded people and people with similar interests on Twitter. It is easy to use, simple to configure and just six months of work will fetch handsome views on your article.

Do not forget Facebook

You cannot escape the largest social media network. But build a new audience as soon as possible. Connect with people who are actually interested to read. I won’t recommend blanket posting of article links in groups and pages. But if you join a group which promotes such activities, do connect. But do not overload your time to Facebook. Because the moment you stop promoting, your traffic will take a nose dive.

Other app, tools and methods

There are hundreds of tips and methods of boosting traffic and readership. Paid or free, organic or artificial, you can charter future course after you build up a base of loyal followers. Remember Google search is your best ally in this. Friends and relatives are your greatest pillar of support. But as a blogger it is much more rewarding if you build your own reader network.
