The two most basic things which gain importance are building a positive public image and a trust factor with your customers. In case of a single brand owner, these two things have to be usually done by the owner. Together they become the foundation to build a solid brand reputation management.
In case of large corporations, there is always a scope of a rebound. But if small brands lose reputation, then recovery might be almost impossible. So reputation here is the key and building one is to be taken seriously.
How to understand brand reputation management?
It is the process of building a perception around your brand. It is a proactive process. It starts with understanding of where do you stand and then building an image around it. This perception should lead to a positive image of your brand.
Step One – Make a clear brand identity for connecting with the audience. If you have named your academy as a dance institute, you cannot conduct art classes there. It connects with the target audience at a deeper level.
Step Two – Identity has to resonate with values expected. Trust factor can only come up with certain principled approach. It should not be always an opportunity to make money. For eg, discounts are a good way to clear stocks or drive sales, but giving out discounts also means that you are cheating the customers who have paid in full.
Step Three – Engaging with customers gives your brand the greatest boost. They are your advertisers. It would be a wise decision to take limited customers and then focus on them.
Step Four – You need to setup rules and guidelines. That means along with the sales targets, there has to be some rules for yourself too. A strict and disciplined person is also much loved in the field of entrepreneurship.
Step Five – Do not react emotionally. Brand owners sometimes become very protective about their brand. They cannot handle criticism. That is a sure shot sign that all is not well. A professionally motivated person remains rock solid no matter what. So there is no need to affect your brand with emotions.
Other pointers – You are a reflection of your brand
So everything about you talks about your brand. Self branding hence is very important for single brand owners. Dress up will, spend some money on accessories, try to gadget up with the latest models, do not try to become cheap all around and finally remember, money is there to earn and lose, but reputation has to be build up.
